Saturday,25 Nov. 2006 00:50...the time of my flite from Chattrapati Shivaji Internatoinal Airport ..Mumbai ka Intl Airport :) to JFK Intl. Airport, New York.
Well Friday was so bz..thanks to all the formalities to be completed...not to forget my "Fit To Fly" Medical Report, which didnt get till 3:30 PM on Friday. Finally one of my friend who was accompanying me brought it for me directly to the Airport!. Left office @ about 3:30..after a farewell by Account Friends and my Training batch mates. Tons of Thanks to them!!
Reached home from office by 5..went for a hair cut (coz ppl told me its v. xpensive in US..hehehe). Started from home @ 6:30. Then I thot its wud be wise to check the weight of my bag before gng to the airport. So checked the weight @ a Grocery story....Hell its 7 KG over weight.!!. Ran home and got another bag..Transferred some contents to this bag on my way to the Airport..(Thank God it was around 2 hrs drive). On the way, picked up my cousin from Vashi. All this while, my Mobile was ringing with calls from Friends for Bon Voyage, Safe Trip.
Finally, around 8:30, reached the first destination.CSIA,Mumbai. Checked my departure terminal well in advance, to avoid any last moment confusion. Clicked some snaps there...thanks to my cousin who had brought his digi cam..
Two of my friends, who were flying on the same flight, arrived and then we entered the airport. Went thru all the Security and Custom formalities and went to terminal 11 to wait for our flite... Yaah..called Amma and Anna..to tell have cleared all the formalities, so that they could leave for panvel.
Went to the terminal and waited there for about 2 hours.
25 Nov. 00:20..entered the Austrian Airlines 87 flight--Mumbai to Vienna. Searched my seat and kept my cabin luggage.
Pilot announced that we would leave Mumbai in next 15 mins...Suddenly something started in my mind...Crap in 15 mins time I would be out of Mumbai..No Amma ke haath ka khana, Anna ke saath no jhagda to watch ESPN/Star Sports,No Mishra ka Bhel Puri, Waghe ka Wada Pav, Bhushan ka Pav Bhaji ,No watching movies in Cineraj, no roaming around Mumbai on weekends for some months, No meeting the Friends on our fav. Naaka....but hey..this is what I wanted...being in USA..some hours back.
Whatever it was, the flights which were lined ahead of us took off one after one..Then our flight lined up on the runway for take off...Pilot announces.."Leaving Mumbai in 1 minute"...All the thoughts circled in my mind...
Then finally the plane took off...and in some moments I was flying!!!...Touching the Sky!!
The flight was good...one thing i remember...i had as much Apple Juice on the flight, as much I had in my whole life..maybe more than that.. :). One more incident i remember, is abt my friend..as soon as the plane started..he was like..hey dekh re plane chalu ho gaya..bhaag raha hai...and when it went in air...hey dekh ud raha hai..ud raha hai...Sorry dude..had to mention this :))
The plane was not full..i had the window seat..so enjoyed watching Mumbai @ nite from air!..The flight was very comfortale and landed at Vienna @ about Sat, 25 Nov. 4:30 AM local time...Half an hour ahead of schedule!!
